Cathartic as it may be, spring cleaning proves arduous—especially for a fragrance-fan faced with an overflowing perfume collection. An impending move (and far too many bottles of perfume to justify) led me to hours misting, waffling, and (finally) culling my 50-plus assortment to about half as many bottles. Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum 

In the words of my most discerning scent-snob friend, “I’ve never met a Byredo fragrance I didn’t like.” I concur—and, after much deliberation, have officially declared Mojave Ghost, an inimitable classic, my favorite of all. Notes of musk, violet, and sandalwood meld for a skin-smell that’s versatile enough for any mood, outfit, or vibe. The scent is clean, not crisp (think fluffy duvet versus starched sheets) with a subtly sexy softness that has me sniffing the crook of my arm throughout the day. I also own the corresponding body wash—and am eyeing the hair perfume next. 

Cyklar Lover’s Leather Roll-On Perfume Oil

Cyklar, a body care brand I learned of through Hailey Bieber, expanded into perfume recently—and, I’ll admit: I had my doubts. Its fragrance oils are thoroughly impressive, however, and have become fast favorites. Their small size makes for a purse-friendly touchup, while the oil-based formulation ensures a longer-lasting scent than many mists. They’re layerable, too: I’ve discovered an irresistible combination in Lover’s Leather and Sex Musk. 

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Pure Musc Eau de Parfum

I whiffed this scent on a passerby at a restaurant in Sicily. To say it was intoxicating is an understatement: I simply had to inquire (shyness and lack of Italian be damned!), and I’ve since procured my own compliment-garnering bottle. Notes of amber, patchouli, and musk create a warm, inviting scent that’s the olfactory equivalent to a hug.
