Swifty, the artificial intelligence-powered booking engine from the Lufthansa Innovation Hub, has been integrated with Japan’s LINE messenger, allowing customers to book flights directly in the communication platform in under two minutes.
“It goes beyond traditional AI-powered chatbots that assist with trip planning,” LIH said in a LinkedIn post announcing the collaboration. “Swifty doesn’t just research and suggest options, but manages the entire journey from start to finish, including booking and payment.”

The integration will allow LINE users to use messaging in chat or voice messaging in Japanese to search for and book flights on airlines including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines.
LINE offers other in-platform services beyond messaging, too. It can be used for payment and news and can host “mini apps” for purchases and bookings, LIH said.
LIH unveiled Swifty in 2023. The AI assistant is built on OpenAI’s GPT-4. At the time, LIH said Swifty would allow travelers to share their preferences for flights and hotels, to then select options and have them booked before sharing receipts and itineraries.
