“The world is big enough to have many masters, The one with the best skills does not necessarily have a kind heart.” Sony has debuted their official trailer for the Chinese action movie epic called Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants, adapted from a famous martial arts novel. This movie is another massive production from China, featuring tons of action and massive set pieces and endless numbers of people in giant battles. Under Genghis Khan, the Mongolian army pushes west to destroy the Jin Dynasty, setting its sights on the Song Dynasty next. Amid internal conflicts among martial arts schools, Guo Jing unites the Central Plains’ warriors to help defend Xiangyang, embodying courage & loyalty in the fight for the nation. Directed by Tsui Hark and starring Xiao Zhan and Zhuang Dafei, Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants is an action-packed fantasy drama adapted from Jin Yong’s book “Legend of the Condor Heroes”. It also stars Leung Ka Fai Tony, Zhang Wenxin, Bayaertu, Alan, and Ada Choi. This does look like they went all-out on the epic, fancy production featuring some magical martial arts elements added. The film is adapted from Jin Yong’s classic martial arts work The Legend of the Condor Heroes. It tells the story of a world of grievances and hatred in the war-torn era of power struggle. Guo Jing (played by Xiao Zhan) left his hometown and acquired huge power in martial arts to change his destiny. Although he was valued by kung fu masters who passed down the world’s peerless martial arts “Nine Yin Manual” and “Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms,” jealousy toward him was formed from all parties where he became the target of public criticism. Guo Jing and Huang Rong (played by Zhuang Dafei) turned the tide and protected the Southern Song Dynasty border amidst the rain of arrows with the spirit of gallants. Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants, also known as 射雕英雄传：侠之大者 in Mandarin, is written directed by legendary Chinese filmmaker Tsui Hark, of many many films including Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain, Once Upon a Time in China, Green Snake, The Blade, Double Team, Knock Off, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, The Taking of Tiger Mountain, The Battle at Lake Changjin previously.
