Cobra Kai season 6, part 3, included a surprise dojo shuffle going into the final rounds of the Sekai Taikai, and this was the perfect way to bring the series full circle. The two primary dojos of the Karate Kid spinoff are Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do, reflecting the big rivalry of the 1984 movie. Of course, things got all the more complicated as characters like John Kreese and Terry Silver performed hostile takeovers. As senseis changed dojos in Cobra Kai, the students were also shuffled around.
Going into the Sekai Taikai in Cobra Kai season 6, most of the primary teen characters were fighting for Miyagi-Do. Johnny and Daniel had decided to merge Eagle-Fang with Mr. Miyagi’s ancient dojo, which is how they presented themselves at the global karate tournament. Of course, following her mother’s death, Tory decided to jump ship and join up with John Kreese and Sensei Kim’s Cobra Kai—her first dojo of the series. While this seemed like a betrayal initially, Tory wouldn’t be the only one to switch teams before Cobra Kai‘s ending.

Everything Was Set Right
As a final gift and apology to Johnny, John Kreese offered his sensei position back to his old student in Cobra Kai season 6, part 3. This meant that Johnny would again take ownership of the dojo he revived, and Miguel could take Kwon’s place as the Cobra Kai competitor in the Sekai Taikai finals. This big switch-up meant that the four primary fighters of Cobra Kai were back where they had started. Sam and Robby remained with Miyagi-Do, while Miguel and Tory were the top fighters for Cobra Kai.

Miguel was Johnny’s first Cobra Kai student, and Tory quickly became the “Queen Cobra” when she was introduced later in the series. On the other hand, Sam and Robby were Daniel’s first real students back in Cobra Kai season 1. By restoring this line-up, the ending of Cobra Kai restored the balance of the series. This is important considering the emphasis the Karate Kid spinoff has always placed on balance.

These Final Changes Proved That Old Rivalries Are Over
Cobra Kai could have ended harmoniously with everyone in Miyagi-Do. Johnny and Daniel had finally found common ground, and the rivalries between Miguel, Robby, Sam, and Tory had all been worked out. However, the name of the series is Cobra Kai, so it wouldn’t have made sense for Johnny’s old dojo to be thrown out in favor of his rival. The only thing that made sense for the ending of the Karate Kid series was for Johnny to reclaim Cobra Kai dojo. Of course, such a thing could have easily reignited the conflict between Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai—but it didn’t.
This was the perfect way for the series’ ending to demonstrate how far all these characters had come.
Johnny, Miguel, and Tory rejoining Cobra Kai would have been a disaster in past seasons of Cobra Kai, but Daniel and his Miyai-Dos were completely understanding of the change. This was the perfect way for the series’ ending to demonstrate how far all these characters had come. Daniel even delivered the line “Cobra Kai never dies” to Terry Silver, proving how much he had come to support his old rival. Though on different teams, Johnny and Daniel maintained their friendship, and their students continued their cross-dojo romances. It’s precisely how Cobra Kai needed to end.
