“He’s ruining our show!” Cineverse has unveiled a third teaser for the bonkers horror remake of The Toxic Avenger, ready to hit theaters this August at the summer. After a two year wait since this first premiered at the genre festivals – it’s time to unleash Toxie on everyone evil! The original The Toxic Avenger from 1984 is a Lloyd Kaufman / Troma horror cult classic. Many sequels were made, and spin-offs, but now Troma has teamed up with Legendary for a brand new take. Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger reboot follows struggling everyman-janitor Winston Gooze (starring Peter Dinklage as our new anti-hero) who is transformed by a horrible toxic accident into a new evolution of superhero: The Toxic Avenger! With super-human strength & wielding a glowing mop, Toxie must race against time to save his son and stop a ruthless, power-hungry corporate tyrant hellbent on harnessing toxic superpowers. Also with Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis, Jonny Coyne, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon. This teaser introduces a metal band called “The Killer Nutz” causing mayhem – who get slayed when Toxie shows up at their local concert. Elijah Wood also lookin’ all like The Penguin in this footage. What a crazy promo! This movie is going to be *ahem* nutz!

From Fantastic Fest: “A horrible toxic accident transforms downtrodden janitor Winston Gooze into a new evolution of hero: The Toxic Avenger! Now wielding a glowing mop with super-human strength, he must race against time to save his son and stop a ruthless and power-hungry tyrant bent on harnessing toxic superpowers to strengthen his polluted empire.” This 2023 update of The Toxic Avenger is both written and directed by American actor / filmmaker Macon Blair, his second feature after directing the film I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore (from 2017) previously. The script is based on the original The Toxic Avenger movie by Lloyd Kaufman & Joe Ritter. It’s produced by Alex Garcia, Michael Herz, Lloyd Kaufman, and Mary Parent. This initially premiered at Fantastic Fest 2023 a few years ago, and also played at Beyond Fest that year.
