DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie’ Glitzy Trailer

“It’s time to get tiny! Let’s get this dollhouse back.” Universal has unveiled the official trailer for Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, a DreamWorks Animation production involving live-action and animation. This is a big screen version of the super popular TV series “Gabby’s Dollhouse”, which first began airing in 2021. This “interactive” series combines live-action and animation, and has Gabby (voiced and portrayed by Laila Lockhart Kraner) and her cat friends (called the Gabby Cats) going on adventures inside the dollhouse. In Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, Gabby and Grandma Gigi’s road trip takes an unexpected turn when Gabby’s prized dollhouse ends up with eccentric cat lady Vera – played by Kristen Wiig. Gabby embarks on a adventure to reunite the Gabby Cats and retrieve her beloved dollhouse before it’s too late. Laila Lockhart Kraner co-stars with Gloria Estefan as Grandma Gigi, plus Ego Nwodim, Kyle Mooney, and Melissa Villaseñor, as well as Emmy nominee Thomas Lennon, Jason Mantzoukas, and Fortune Feimster. Looks like a fun time for any fans of this series already. Reminds me of the SpongeBob SquarePants moves.

Since the debut of the Gabby’s Dollhouse series in 2021, kids around the world have been having one big sprinkle party with Gabby and her friends on Netflix. Created by the celebrated storytellers Traci Paige Johnson & Jennifer Twomey, Gabby’s Dollhouse is a mixed media preschool series that unboxes a surprise before jumping into a fantastical animated world full of adorable cat characters that live inside Gabby’s dollhouse. In the new film, Gabby (Laila Lockhart Kraner, reprising her role from the series) heads out on a road trip with her Grandma Gigi (co-starring Grammy winner Gloria Estefan) to the urban wonderland of Cat Francisco. But when Gabby’s dollhouse, her most prized possession, ends up in the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Vera (Oscar nominee Kristen Wiig), Gabby sets off on an adventure through the real world to get the Gabby Cats back together and save the dollhouse before it’s too late. “Hold on tight…”

Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is directed by filmmaker Ryan Crego (exec producer of Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh, I Heart Arlo), who earned a Children’s & Family Emmy nomination for his television feature Arlo the Alligator Boy. The screenplay is written by Ryan Crego, Melanie Wilson LaBracio, Adam Wilson. Based on the Gabby’s Dollhouse series created by Jennifer Twomey and Traci Paige Johnson. Produced by Steven Schweickart, who has served as a production supervisor or a co-producer on some of DreamWorks Animation’s biggest blockbusters. Made by DreamWorks Animation. Universal opens Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie in theaters nationwide on September 26th, 2025 later this year. Anyone want to watch this?
