Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy have partnered in various forms over the years. But now, members can convert Emirates Skywards miles to Marriott points at a rate of 3 miles to 2 points.

Here’s an overview of what you can expect from the Emirates and Marriott partnership.

Benefits and earnings

If you have Marriott Bonvoy and Emirates Skywards accounts, you might as well link them. After all, select members of both programs can earn rewards in both programs and enjoy select benefits on eligible flights and hotel stays.

Convert rewards

All Marriott Bonvoy and Emirates Skywards members can convert rewards between the two programs. Specifically, you can convert 3 Marriott points into 1 Skyward mile. Plus, you’ll get 5,000 bonus Skywards miles for every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you convert. This could be particularly important as some other programs devalue and temporarily pause transfers to Emirates Skywards.

Starting May 27, you can convert 3 Skywards miles into 2 Marriott points. The only requirement is to include at least 3,000 Skywards miles per conversion.

However, just because you can convert rewards doesn’t mean you should. TPG’s May 2025 valuations peg the value of Emirates miles at 1.2 cents each and Marriott points at 0.7 cents each. So, you’ll theoretically lose value when you transfer rewards in either direction.

Bottom line

Dual earning opportunities are a pure win for travelers, as earning more rewards is always nice. However, consider carefully before converting rewards between the Marriott Bonvoy and Emirates Skywards programs. Specifically, ensure you’re getting good value and wouldn’t be better off transferring rewards from another program, buying points or miles or booking your flight or stay via a different method.
