Eva Longoria is no stranger to turning out a look on the red carpet, even when she was still a newbie on the Hollywood scene. While Longoria admitted that she has had many fashion regrets over the years, there’s one faux pas in particular that haunts her to this day: the 2005 Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

While speaking with The Times, the 49-year-old was asked if there are any outfits she regretted. She revealed that she has “so many,” but the dress from her first appearance at the French film festival takes the cake. “The first time I went to the Cannes Film Festival sticks out. I went to Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles and bought a $39 dress because I was told I needed a dress. It looked amazing and people were like, “Who are you wearing?” I thought, why are they asking me that?” Longoria recalled. “It was this gold knit dress and even L’Oréal”—whom the actress is an ambassador for—”were like, ‘Maybe next time we style you.’ I really didn’t understand the gravity of that red carpet.”

On the contrary, Longoria explained there are some fashion items that she once hated but now adores, such as kitten heels. Now, the polarizing shoe is a must have in her closet—despite hating the style in the 2000s.

“I hated kitten heels. I couldn’t walk in them, I would fall down. I either had to have a platform or flats. But those little heels made me crazy and now they’re my favorite heels,” she explained, adding that her Desperate Housewives character played into her dislike of the trend. “Gabrielle [in Desperate Housewives] had to wear so many heels and platforms, and that was the style back then. I remember when court shoes came back [into fashion] and I was like, I feel so small!”
