I don’t know about you, but I’m craving all the simple things that make summer so delicious. I want to fill the next couple months with moments spent savoring the sunshine and a slower pace, and relishing nature at its peak. It’s a season that inspires me to live more carefree and full of aliveness.
The beautiful thing is that capturing this feeling is more about setting an intention and less about a to-do list. I partnered with Target on today’s post to show how a few simple essentials can help carve out space to savor the best of summer. Easy and effortlessly. Let’s dive in.

The Essentials of a Feel-Good Summer
You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning and there’s nothing on the calendar that you have to do? For me, the greatest luxury of summer is having time to embrace slower mornings and enjoy the sunshine. That’s true abundance—and what I’ve found is that whether or not you actually have ample time comes down to how you’ve prepared for it. A little planning on the front end can set you up to capture those moments (stolen in your backyard or at a public pool) whenever they present themselves.
Here are a few of the elements in my ideal summer day:

An easy outfit
I love a matching set that I can throw on and go (and that doubles as a cover-up). White feels extra chic in the summer, like retreat uniform that channels instant relaxation.

The perfect beach towel
Sure, you could grab a thin basic towel—but why, when these luxurious oversized Target towels exist? They’ve been my favorite for years. I’m obsessed with the yellow-and-cream and the blue cabana stripe. Big enough to double as a picnic blanket, they live in my car and beach bag, ready for spontaneous swims or backyard lounging under the trees.

A dedicated tote bag
So I don’t have to think twice about a moment in the sun, I keep a tote packed with my favorite sunscreen, a scarf for sun-dried hair, the novel I can’t wait to get back to, and my Polaroid for capturing impromptu summer memories (no phone required).

A simple summer recipe
Because nothing activates vacation mode like pasta by the pool. Blister some summer tomatoes, add hunks of fresh mozzerella and torn basil, then serve over spaghetti for a light, yet indulgent meal that easily elevates any afternoon. Don’t overthink it, just toss it together and enjoy.

Sunscreen and pool accessories
Target’s entire summer collection is so good right now. I picked up a few of these chic pool floats and plenty of sunscreen to have at the ready. Bring on the pool parties!
With some version of the above, summer feels easy and breezy. I’m tapping into the relaxed mood of the season and embracing every moment—instead of powering through to wonder where it went a few months later. That kind of presence equals the ultimate feel-good summer.
