The name Gisele Bündchen is synonymous with supermodel royalty. From her seven year-long tenure as a Victoria’s Secret Angel to her beauty campaigns for Chanel, Dior, and Glossy, the Brazilian transplant has undeniably become a household name.

Of course, that means that her love life has also been the subject of scrutiny. Following her divorce from retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady, Bündchen’s new partnership with Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente made headlines more than once for their whirlwind romance and, later on, for the arrival of her third baby.

“I can’t really worry about what other people say about me because what they say about me is none of my business,” Bündchen recently told Harper’s Bazaar in response to the increased scrutiny. “It’s really their business that they’re trying to project onto me. If I’m going to be affected by that, I’m never going to live my truth.”

Ahead, the full timeline of Gisele Bündchen’s dating history, from Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio to her current love affair with boyfriend-turned-dad Joaquim Valente.

João Paulo Diniz: 1999

The supermodel briefly dated Brazilian businessman João Paulo Diniz in 1999, which coincided with her winning the VH1 Vogue Model of the Year award. She was 19 at the time and he was 36. Diniz later passed away in July 2022.

Scott Barnhill: 1999

Also in 1999, Bündchen coupled with fellow model Scott Barnhill. The pair shot a Vogue cover together, but the relationship was short-lived. “She’s always known what she wanted,” he later told NY Daily News. “I wish the best for her.”

Bündchen found love with Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, whom she dated from 2000 to 2005. Years later, she revealed the reason for their split in an interview with Net-A-Porter’s magazine, PORTER.

“No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at,” she told the publication. “Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes.”

Kelly Slater: 2005—2006

On the heels of her split from DiCaprio, Bündchen briefly dated pro surfer Kelly Slater.

Josh Hartnett: 2006

The supermodel had a brief fling with the actor Josh Hartnett. The pair were spotted making out in New York City after his breakup with Scarlett Johansson, but they ultimately split later that year.

Bündchen’s longest relationship began with a blind date in 2006. By her telling, it was love at first sight. “The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, ‘That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!’” she later told Vanity Fair, adding that she “knew right away” he was the one.

Three years later, Tom Brady got down on one knee. The couple said “I do” in an intimate ceremony at a church in Santa Monica, where they were joined by their parents and Brady’s son, John “Jack” Moynahan. They later hosted a larger reception in Costa Rica.

“We planned it in like 10 days, and it was perfect,” Brady told GQ. “We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night.”

The couple later welcomed two more children together: a son, Benjamin, and a daughter, Vivian. Things took a turn, however, when Brady briefly retired, then “un-retired,” from the NFL in 2022. “This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” Bündchen told Elle at the time. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again.”

The strain on their marriage proved to be too much, and the couple announced their divorce on October 28, 2022. “We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration,” Brady wrote on Instagram, per ESPN. “Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written.”

One month after finalizing her divorce from Brady, Bündchen was spotted having dinner in Costa Rica with her Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. Their romance was later confirmed in early 2024 by Page Six, who reported that the couple were “deeply in love,” according to an insider.

“They’re taking it slow,” a source told People at the time. “They started out as great friends first. She’s very private about this and wanted to keep it quiet while they got to know each other.”

Things sped up, of course, when Bündchen announced she was pregnant with Valente’s child. She gave birth to a baby boy in February 2025.

“Gisele’s doing great,” an insider told People. “She seems the happiest she’s ever been. She’s truly thriving.”
