Helen Mirren piled on the sparkle at Cannes on Thursday, where she wore over 400 carats of gemstones—and that’s just counting her necklace.
Mirren, who attended the premiere of Colors of Time, wore a high-neck black gown with puff-sleeves and a trailing teal sash. A floral fascinator and stunning Margot McKinney jewels completed her look. Her necklace, the Marina Collier, contains two large green beryls, which total 241 and 109 carats each. These are accompanied by a 65-carat aquamarine stone.

Each large stone is surrounded by clusters of green beryls, aquamarines, tourmalines, sapphires, diamonds, paraibas, and tsavorites (green garnet). Strung in between are 29 rare baroque Australian South Sea pearls. Mirren also wore a matching pair of earrings.
The L’Oréal ambassador recently said how she really feels about the James Bond franchise. In an interview promoting her new show MobLand, Mirren emphasized she’s a “massive fan” of her co-star, Pierce Brosnan, who formerly played 007. The films themselves, however, not so much.

“The whole series of James Bond, it was not my thing,” she told The Standard in March. “It really wasn’t. I never liked James Bond. I never liked the way women were in James Bond.”
Mirren has family ties to to the franchise, as her late cousin Tania Mallet played Bond girl Tilly Masterson.
“The whole concept of James Bond is drenched and born out of profound sexism,” Mirren explained. “Women have always been a major and incredibly important part of the Secret Service, they always have been. And very brave. If you hear about what women did in the French Resistance, they’re amazingly, unbelievably courageous.”
