All eyes were on Kate Middleton and Prince William as they made a rare joint appearance at Monday, March 10’s Commonwealth Day service–and fans weren’t disappointed as they spotted a flirty moment between the couple. Kate’s return to the annual event–a royal appearance that she missed last year due to her cancer battle–was a celebratory one, as the glowing princess paired a red Catherine Walker coat dress with the late Queen Elizabeth’s four-strand pearl and diamond choker. Cameras caught Kate and William looking more in love than ever and enjoying a private conversation as they sat together at Westminster Abbey.
The historic chapel has a long connection to the Waleses’s love story, as Kate and William got married at Westminster Abbey back in 2011. With the couple’s 14th wedding anniversary coming up on April 29, it’s possible their big day was top of mind as they whispered together as they got to their seats. During the service, the giggling couple was seen smiling, laughing, and leaning in towards each other.

If royal watchers needed any extra proof that the Waleses’s relationship is stronger than ever after Kate’s health issues last year, body language expert Judi James told The Mirror that their dynamic shows that William has a “bashful crush” on his wife.
“They walked in together but slightly apart with signs of renewed energy and positivity,” James told the publication. “William’s beaming smile projected ongoing pride in his wife but he avoided all the steering pats and touches that can imply she has some need of support and encouragement.”

While both Kate and William tend to keep their PDA to a minimum, James said that this affectionate moment between the couple showed a glimpse into their private relationship.
“When they did connect as they do here, sitting together, William’s body-scrunched pose and his very youthful smile with eye crinkling and a peek of the front teeth through his lips in response to Kate’s lean and playful smile suggests a bit of a bashful crush is still going on in their relationship,” James shared.

The Palace hasn’t revealed when Kate and William will make their next joint appearance, but fans will be keeping an eye on their social media channels to see if they get another never-before-seen wedding photo on their anniversary.
