Oneskin, the longevity-minded beauty brand founded by four Brazilian scientists in 2021, is entering the hair business.
The skin and body care label has announced its move into haircare with a new formula, the OS-01 Hair Peptide Scalp Serum, which launched Wednesday morning on its direct-to-consumer website. The 50 mL serum is priced at $69, and is sold alongside a $20 dermaroller, or a tool that creates tiny impressions in the scalp for increased product absorption.
“We want to serve our customers as they’re going through the aging process,” chief executive Carolina Reis de Oliveira told The Business of Beauty. “And as hair loss is associated with aging, it made sense for us to explore the category.”
The serum is built around OS-01, a proprietary peptide that the brand claims can help reduce senescent cells, or cells nearing the end of their life cycle that tell other cells to shut down.
“Our data shows that, in very early stages of hair thinning, you’re able to regrow and regain the density of the hair,” Alessandra Zonari, co-founder and chief science officer, told The Business of Beauty. De Oliveira added that the product was studied against minoxidil, the hair growth drug, and saw results that were “comparable or better.”
In a six-month clinical trial, users saw their average hair width grow by 42 percent, with the number of hairs increasing by 40 percent.
In October 2024, Oneskin closed a $7 million Series A funding round led by Selva Ventures, alongside PLUS Capital, Unilever Ventures, Able Partners and former investors SOSV and Metaplanet, bringing its total investment to over $20 million. Digg founder Kevin Rose and model and philanthropist Camila Alves McConaughey have also invested in the brand.
“The company is growing,” Reis de Oliveira said. Oneskin has recently brought on new leadership, including COO Michael Lee, who joined from data firm Phyllo and Meta, and hopes to hire a CMO and creative director this year. Other priorities include further product development and clinical trials, as well as planning an expansion into retail.
Oneskin’s product range, which includes moisturisers (or “topical supplements” in brand parlance) for the face and body, currently spans seven SKUs, each dosed with OS-01 to target senescent cells. (It also released a mineral sunscreen in February 2025.)
The hair serum is the first product on the market aimed at these cells, the brand said.
