Luke Combs is a seriously serious watch collector: From classic Rolex sport and dress models such as the yellow gold Yacht-Master II and the GMT-Master II “Root Beer” to upscale examples of haute horlogerie such as the A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk and the MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual, this is a musician who takes timing seriously. The latest killer watch we’ve spotted on his wrist? A super cool Omega, and probably not the one you’re thinking of.
During a performance in Nashville, Combs rocked the Speedmaster Chronoscope, a 43-mm dual-register chronograph in the brand’s signature Bronze Gold. While most people spring for the typical triple-register Professional, Combs went left field, opting for a high-end piece with clear 1940s influences and a slightly larger case. Furthermore, Combs rocked it while dressed in jeans, a button-down, and a trucker hat—a lowkey look for a piece of serious high horology.

Launched back in 2021, the Speedmaster Chronoscope upped the Professional’s diameter by a single millimeter and introduced the hand-wound Omega Calibre 9908 Master Chronometer-certified movement. Available in the aforementioned Bronze Gold, Moonshine Gold, and stainless steel, it comes in numerous dial colors, all of which feature a dual-register chronograph with multiple timing scales. If you’re familiar with early 20th-century chronographs, you’ll likely recognize the design: Several different scales often “snail” around the dial simultaneously, allowing the user to calculate things like speed, distance, and more. (During the First World War, for example, a telemeter scale might’ve been used to compute the distance to an artillery battery; a tachymeter scale can even compute production output.)
The Chronoscope features a telemeter scale, a tachymeter scale, and a pulsations scale, which is used to measure a patient’s pulse and often featured on so-called “doctor’s” watches. The thing about fitting all these features on a watch in the 1940s is that due to significantly smaller case sizes, they were often challenging to read. Not so on the Chronoscope, whose 43-mm girth allows for plenty of dial real estate. (Whether Combs was using his Speedy on stage to compute the distance to a lightning strike while mid-set is another story, however.)
Slightly obscure by non-nerd standards, the Speedmaster Chronoscope is most definitely a deep watch guy watch. And while we were somewhat surprised to find one on Combs’s wrist, it’s a fitting piece for a guy whose collecting habit has serious, ahem, scope: From Rolex tool watches to mortgage-your-house high-end independents, Combs is one of the most dynamic collectors on the musical scene. What else does this guy possibly have in his watch box?!

Bowen Yang’s Cartier Santos
In London this week, SNL cast member and comedian extraordinaire Bowen Yang rocked a Santos de Cartier in the brand’s large size. Inspired by the watch made by Louis Cartier for Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont at the turn of the 20th century, the Santos de Cartier is a sporty, modern timepiece with an octagonal stainless steel case, a screw-in bezel, a rectangular silvered dial with a railroad minute track, Roman numerals, blued steel sword hands, and a matching steel bracelet. Powered by an automatic movement, it’s also water resistant to 100 meters, making it an excellent, elegant everyday piece.

Kylian Mbappé’s Hublot Square Bang Unico King Gold 42mm
Kylian Mbappé has been known to don a handsome Hublot or two—he is, after all, one of the brand’s star ambassadors. Spotted while arriving at training camp in Paris, Mbappé wore the 42- mm Square Bang Unico King Gold, a square-cased chronograph in Hublot’s proprietary, platinum-laced precious metal. The automatic HUB1280 UNICO movement is visible via a sapphire crystal dial, while 100m of water resistance and a rubber strap mean you don’t have to baby it. (But maybe take it off before you do battle against Villarreal.)

Kendall Jenner’s Custom Cartier Crash
Buckle in dear watch-heads, for Crash-mania has not yet subsided. Witness the glory of a special-order version in white gold with a salmon dial acquired by Kendall Jenner. Seen on Jenner’s wrist in an Instagram selfie (props to @Dimepiece for the spot) and in photos provided by super-dealer Zoë Abelson, it features exploded black Arabic indices and sword hands set against a salmon background, plus a blue cabochon crown. Housed in the collection’s typical Dali-esque asymmetric case that looks like the result of an industrial accident, it has to be one of the most beautiful Crash references we’ve yet seen. (And we’ve seen lots of them—like, here and here.
Will Ferrell’s Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Flamingo Blue”
Nothing is quite as joyful as Will Ferrell acquiring a turquoise-blue watch and proudly wearing it alongside the client advisor who hooked him up. Ferrell loves a colorful dial, so we weren’t all that surprised to see he sprung for Tudor’s recent “Flamingo Blue” edition of the Black Bay Chrono. The model is already one of the best buys in mechanical chronographs at the sub-$10K price point. Lorel Monroy of Feldmar Watch Company, who has seen the actor and comedian through several watch purchases before, posed with him in-store, where he had already swapped out whatever had been on his wrist for his new bright-blue companion.
