While the visuals for her new album, Something Beautiful, are filled with vintage fashion, Cyrus knows that not every day can be an archival Mugler day. Yesterday, she gave us a masterclass in how to jazz up a lowkey look.

Although she once famously hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and a cardigan, the singer has been spending time in New York this week, where she’s dressed for the burgeoning spring weather. Cyrus was spotted yesterday wearing a brown V-neck sweater and loose black pants with black leather sandals, a black slouchy purse—and an Eataly bag. But even an errands ’fit can be fabulous with the right accessorizing: she added a large diamond tennis necklace and a pair of 1960s-era bug-eyed sunglasses to the look.

Cyrus also used standout sunnies to add some rockstar glamour to her outfit later in the night. For an outing to Electric Lady Studios, she wore a black fuzzy tank top, low-slung black jeans, and black leather slides. But what really gave her look that extra something was her choice in sunglasses: a pair of ultra-cool Bottega Veneta aviators, complete with tortoiseshell frames, blue lenses, and funky drop-shaped temple tips. Even off-duty, Miley Cyrus is a natural at rockstar style.
