reMarkable 2 and Kindle Scribe
with the launch of its latest E Ink tablets.

The company has introduced two new models to its Go Series E Ink tablet line: the Go 7 and Go Color 7 Gen II. These tablets are the same size as the previous generation

Go Color 7
, and sport a 7-inch display while retaining the same sleek design. However, these new models represent a first for Boox’s 7-inch e-reader series, as they come with stylus support, thanks to Boox’s new InkSense Stylus, which is sold separately.

“With the BOOX InkSense stylus, users can effortlessly jot down thoughts, highlight text, and mark up books,” Boox said in a press release. “This addition provides a dynamic and engaging experience beyond reading, whether managing a grocery list, outlining a travel itinerary, or capturing sudden inspirations in the Notes app. This functionality ensures that users stay organized while on the go.”

The Boox Go 7 sports a 7-inch E Ink Carta 1300 black-and-white (monochrome) display with 300ppi (pixels per inch) and adjustable front lights that enhance usability in various lighting conditions such as in direct sunlight. The advantage of a display like this is that it mimics the appearance of paper, resulting in sharper text and providing greater comfort for your eyes, akin to other E Ink tablets like the Kindle Scribe.

The primary difference between the Go 7 and the Go Color 7 Gen II lies in the display. While the Go 7 is solely black-and-white, the Go Color 7 Gen II boasts an E Ink Kaleido 3 color display, capable of producing up to 4096 colors at 150ppi and monochrome images at 300ppi, similar to the Kindle Colorsoft. Beyond that, their hardware specifications are identical, featuring an octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 2,300mAh battery, and 64GB of storage that is expandable via a microSD card.

The tablets are also the same size, both measuring 6.1 x 5.4 x 0.25 inches and weighing 195 grams. Similar to the Go Color 7, they have a large bezel on the right side, making it easier to hold the device without touching or obscuring the display. The bezel also contains two physical buttons for page turning. The Go 7 and the Go Color 7 Gen II come equipped with built-in speakers and Bluetooth support, which is convenient for listening to audiobooks.

Both the Go 7 and Go Color 7 Gen II run on Android 13, providing users with access to the Google Play Store and a range of apps, unlike the Kindle Scribe. Thanks to the versatility of Android, users can choose their own e-reading and note-taking apps, listen to music, browse various news feeds, and more. Additionally, both tablets support 26 different file formats.

The Boox Go 7 is currently available on the company’s website for $250 and will soon be available on Amazon. The Go Color 7 Gen II will cost $280 but isn’t available for purchase yet; however, Boox states it is “expected to be released soon.” Additionally, Boox’s new InkSense Stylus, which users can use to write on the tablets, is available now for $46.
