has teased what’s to come when he and fellow Hollywood icon Brad Pitt return for the long-awaited Ocean’s sequel, Ocean’s Fourteen. And, as expected with a 63-year-old Clooney and a 61-year-old Pitt, they’re following in the footsteps of Lethal Weapon’s Roger Murtaugh and are now, finally, too old for this sh*t.
Speaking recently with The New York Times, Clooney teased the direction of the fourth Ocean’s movie (in the main franchise, anyway), revealing that it will follow master thieves Danny Ocean, Robert “Rusty” Ryan, and the rest of the crew as they approach their later years and struggle with pulling off the same high-stakes heists. Clooney revealed…
“It’s like we’re all too old to do the jobs we used to be able to do.”

Whether getting swept up in the thrills of the Ocean’s sequels or uncovering dark secrets in Burn After Reading, this handsome duo always entertains.
This is not the first time that Clooney has teased Ocean’s Fourteen. The actor has previously heaped praise on the script, saying, “We have a really good script for another Oceans now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.” He also likened the next Ocean’s installment to director Martin Brest’s 1979 heist-comedy Going in Style, which follows three senior citizens who, after becoming tired with their mundane lives, decide to rob a bank and regain some of their long-lost vigor.

Further details about Ocean’s Fourteen remain under wraps, but it has been rumored that Oscar-winning director and the filmmaker behind All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave, Edward Berger, is being eyed to take the helm. However, he is seemingly being eyed to take the helm of every major franchise going right now, including James Bond and Jason Bourne. With Berger likely too busy, another name that has been floated for directing duties is John Wick’s David Leitch.
While we await further updates on a possible Ocean’s Fourteen, the franchise is also due to go back in time for Oceans, a prequel starring Barbie actors Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as the parents of Clooney’s Danny Ocean. Set in Europe during the 1960s, Oceans will be led by Robbie and Gosling as Mr. and Mrs. Ocean, the parents of Clooney’s Danny and Sandra Bullock’s Ocean’s 8 character Debora, who teach their kids to rob the rich.
As well as teasing Ocean’s Fourteen, Clooney reflected on the concept of the leading man, something he’s been for decades. Whether there are any true leading men left has been a subject of contention for some time, and while Clooney feels there haven’t been many, allowing him and Brad Pitt to continue at the forefront, he does name-drop a certain Top Gun: Maverick star as a potential successor…
“It gave Pitt, myself and a few of us room to continue working. Some guys have hit recently, like Glen Powell and stuff, where I go, ‘That guy’s going to have a really good career.’”
