Could Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s public displays of affection—which have been in existence since the early days of their courtship—have influenced other royal couples, namely the Prince and Princess of Wales, to pack on the PDA themselves? Maybe, a royal photographer said.
Speaking to Us Weekly, longtime royal photographer Karwai Tang said, “I think with Harry and Meghan being in the royal family for those few years, it’s sort of relaxed a lot of the other members, because every now and again you see Kate and William, not hold hands, but like a hand on the back or on the knee.”
While William and Kate’s PDA has upped in recent years—perhaps never more evident than in the September 9 video released to announce that Kate had completed chemotherapy treatment—Harry and Meghan have long been “very demonstrative,” Tang said.
“I always enjoy photographing them,” Tang told the outlet after the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada, where Tang took photos of the couple. “They photograph really well, genuine.”
“I photographed them from the start, so it’s actually nice just to photograph them along their journey,” Tang added.
The photographer has snapped Harry and Meghan since before their May 19, 2018 royal wedding day—and told Us Weekly that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “haven’t changed” since their big day nearly seven years ago.

“They are what they are, you know,” Tang said. “She’s very handsy, very touchy, you know, touchy feely with Harry, which is good that she hasn’t changed. She wasn’t the person that wanted to change, anyway, when she married into the royal family.”
