The third season of Leverage: Redemption, the spin-off of the 2008 drama series, Leverage, is heading towards its season finale. The Prime Video series is currently halfway through the season with a number of jobs left to be pulled off. The series sees Dean Devlin in the role of showrunner, and while Season 3 might be ending soon, the showrunner reveals that there has not been much in regard to a potential fourth season. Devlin also serves as showrunner on The Librarians: The Next Chapter, and in an interview with ScreenRant regarding that show, Devlin discussed the major delay experienced by Leverage: Redemption renewal chances.
As fans and audiences remain in the dark concerning a Season 4 renewal, so are the cast and crew of the show as well. Season 3 is the first time Leverage: Redemption is being hosted on Prime Video, as the previous seasons were hosted on Freevee. Devlin explains that the show’s new streaming home requires “a lot of data” gathering before a decision can be made on a renewal. “We haven’t heard yet. Amazon likes to get a lot of data, they usually wait until after the last show is aired, and then they want about six more months of data afterwards,” Devlin explains to the outlet. The showrunner explains that while it’s great not to rush, it ultimately results in massive delays between seasons, adding, “I think on one hand, it’s great that they don’t have to rush, but on the other hand, it’s tough, because sometimes, you go two years in between seasons. So, we’re hoping we’d get word one way or another sooner than later, but I anticipate it’ll be a while.”
‘Leverage: Redemption’ Maintains the Legacy of the Original
Leverage: Redemption picks up eight years after the original series, continuing on with the legacy of the modern Robin-Hoods, established in Leverage. The team still works to take down the rich and powerful and, from their base in New Orleans, they tackle and face new challenges and villains, including those involved in the opioid crisis and corporate injustice. The original Leverage premiered on TNT in December 2008 starring Timothy Hutton as Nate Ford, the mastermind, Gina Bellman as Sophie Devereaux, the grifter, Aldis Hodge as Alec Hardison, the hacker, and Christian Kane as Eliot Spencer. The revival, Leverage: Redemption, brings much of the core cast while adding powerhouse individuals such as The Pitt star, Noah Wyle, as a fixer, a former corporate lawyer named Harry Wilson. Other names include Jack Coleman, Drew Powell, Alex Boniello, and Cedric Yarbrough, among others.
Leverage: Redemption also stars Beth Riesgraf, as Parker, a skilled thief, and the actress discussed the chances of the show’s potential renewal. Riesgraf understands that the metrics for renewals have become far more complex and offers a potential pathway to making a fourth season of Leverage: Redemption far more feasible. She said:
“No, not yet. But let’s get it going, people. Let’s talk about this. Huh? We’ve got to get the Nana episode. I mean, spread the word. If you guys like the show, I just say spread the word. The more subscriptions that Amazon gets, the better the chances are, I think, because they’ll see that people show up for this show, and these characters, and that they really care.”
Season 3 of Leverage: Redemption continues to air on Prime Video with new episodes dropping on Thursdays. As always, stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
