Summary

  • Krapopolis
season 2 has been confirmed, along with a third season, indicating Fox’s confidence in the show’s success.
  • The first season of

broke records for viewership and is the highest-rated comedy show of 2023 so far.
  • The cast for
    Krapopolis
season 2 is expected to remain largely unchanged, with Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, and others reprising their roles. No plot details for season 2 have been announced.

Krapopolis season 2 is on the way to Fox and, even though the first season of the new Dan Harmon show hasn’t yet concluded, there are already plans for the future of the show. Debuting in 2023, Krapopolis is a surreal animated comedy set in a fictional Ancient Greek city (also called Krapopolis). The show focuses on Tyrannis (Richard Ayoade), the often-times-inept king of Krapopolis, and the family of half-monsters he must look to for support and guidance.

With Krapopolis season 2 confirmed before the show had even premiered and a third season en-route too, it’s clear Fox has big plans for the new Dan Harmon show. This is unsurprising since it’s already breaking viewership records set by shows like Family Guy in years past. While specifics on what to expect from the story of Krapopolis season 2 are thin at present there’s already teases coming in on what to expect once the first season concludes.

Season 1 Breaks Viewership Records

Tyrranis issues an order from his throne in Krapopolis

While there’s been little in the way of concrete Krapopolis season 2 news, the premiere of the first season in September 2023 almost certainly upped expectations for the second. Krapopolis debuted on Fox to a record-breaking 3.6 million viewers, making it the highest rated comedy show of 2023 at that point (via Variety). While the 2023 Hollywood strikes meant Krapopolis wasn’t as widely promoted by the cast and creative team as it otherwise would have been, it clearly found its footing early. If it keeps up its momentum it could mean an even bigger-budgeted and larger scale Krapopolis season 2.

The 2023 Hollywood strikes involved the WGA and SAG-AFTRA unions striking in solidarity for better pay and fair working conditions.

Expect The Entire Ensemble To Return

Provided there aren’t any recasts announced in the interim, the cast of Krapopolis season 2 is expected to remain relatively unchanged. Richard Ayoade (Soul, The IT Crowd) will reprise his role as Tyrannis, ruler of Krapopolis, with Matt Berry (What We Do In The Shadows, Toast of London) back again as his half-manticore father Shlub. Tyrannis’s giant sister Stupendous will be played by Pam Murphy (Weird City) and his brother Hippocampus the sea monster by Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel). Rounding out Tyrannis’s family will be Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) as Deliria, his mother and also a goddess.

More Ancient Greek Madness Coming Soon

Stupendous, Tyrannis’ half-sister, floats in a blue void in Krapopolis.

The premise of Krapopolis season 2 is expected to continue on from the first, unless there’s any major shifts as the first volume progresses. The show centers on Tyrannis as he tries to balance ruling the ancient Greek city of Krapopolis with having a family of half-monsters. The show carries all the typical humor traits of a Dan Harmon project, which will of course not change between seasons, but what the Krapopolis season 2 plot could be will remain a mystery until season 1 concludes.
