Sparke Films has shared the Primitive War teaser trailer for the upcoming survival action epic, which is set during the Vietnam War. Based on Ethan Pettus’s 2017 novel, the movie is slated to make its debut sometime this year.
“I’m thrilled to see Luke’s interpretation of my work. I know his team is giving this project everything they’ve got,” Pettus said in a statement.

What happens in the Primitive War teaser trailer?
The teaser trailer introduces its main cast, including True Blood vet Ryan Kwanten as a soldier who’s part of a search and rescue team. Their mission is to find a missing platoon in a mysterious jungle valley, where they discover the existence of prehistoric monsters. The video highlights some of the film’s action-packed sequences, as the team must find a way to survive the jungle.
Primitive War is written and directed by Luke Sparke, who is also serving as its editor and production designer. The cast also includes Tricia Helfer, Nick Wechsler, Jeremy Piven, Lincoln Lewis, Ana Thu Nguyen, Anthony Ingruber, Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, Jake Ryan, Carlos Sanson Jr., Marcus Johnson, Henry Nixon, and Aaron Glenane. The film is produced by Luke Sparke, Carly Sparke, and Carmel Imrie, with Wade Muller as its director of photography.
“The film is based on the Ethan Pettus favorite where a search and rescue team known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon,” reads the official synopsis. “As they hunt through the primordial depths of the valley, they discover ancient horrors that not only threaten to unravel their minds but their lives too when they discover they are not alone.”
