The first trailer for Squid Game season 3 previews one of the deadly rounds involving Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and the remaining survivors. The hit Netflix survival series is set to conclude Gi-hun’s story as he attempts to stop the games for good and save as many players as possible. However, his rebellion plot failed in the Squid Game season 2 finale after the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) sabotaged those plans. The Front Man is also expected to resume his duties after briefly pretending to be among the players. Now, the Netflix show is preparing for the final showdown between Gi-hun and the Front Man.

Now, Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Squid Game season 3. A group of pink guards carry a black box with a pink ribbon inside the bunker, which is revealed to contain Gi-hun. While another snippet shows the protagonist also chained up, the teaser primarily focuses on a new game, where players are randomly given a red or blue ball from the gumball machine. The room also has an entrance hall shaped like a knife, hinting at what the next round could be. The trailer then runs several quick visuals of other characters, including Guard 011/No-uel (Park Gyu-young), while it ends with the sound of a baby crying. Check it out below:

In addition to the trailer, Netflix shared new teaser art and still images of the characters. This includes Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri) picking a red ball, while Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun) and his mother, Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim), are seemingly comforting each other. On the other hand, a teaser poster shows Gi-hun surrounded by black boxes, presumably loaded with the deceased players. Check them out below:

What Does The Squid Game Season 3 Trailer Reveal About The Final Episodes?

The VIPs Are Coming, & A New Game Has Just Been Revealed

The one-minute trailer reveals a lot of details about what is expected in the final episodes. Although Squid Game season 2’s mid-credits scene teased a game involving a boy (Cheol-su) and a girl (Young-hee) doll, the teaser doesn’t indicate what that round would be about. Instead, the first footage unravels another game that will seemingly pit the red and blue teams against each other. Some clues also indicate that this game may involve knives or some weapons, possibly a fight-to-the-death scenario. This spells trouble for the mother and son duo, as their opposition could indicate that only one will make it to the next round.

Is Player 246 Dead In Squid Game Season 2? Gyeong-seok’s Fate Explained

Squid Game season 2 featured an explosive finale that saw several prominent characters laid to rest, but 246’s fate may still hang in the balance.

On the other hand, the trailer also reveals the return of the VIPs, while the Front Man resumes his position as the overseer of the games. However, the teaser seems to hint that No-eul has been busy behind the scenes, although it’s unclear what her intentions are. It’s been heavily theorized that she will play a huge role in helping Gyeong-seok/Player 246 (Lee Jin-wook), who does appear in the teaser. His fate is still uncertain, but the short visual may indicate that the player may have survived the rebellion.

While most games in season 2 involved teams or individual challenges, it appears that season 3 will have its first dual round, not far off from the Marbles game in season 1.

Netflix has already confirmed that season 3 will mark the last. Show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously hinted that the final episodes will show Gi-hun as a changed person following the death of his best friend, Jung-bae. It’s also expected that season 3 will dive deeper into the Front Man’s backstory and how he got involved in the first place. While the show is set to conclude the tale, it remains uncertain how many episodes will be in season 3. Nevertheless, it’s expected that season 3 will be highly anticipated this coming summer, considering the previous installments have managed to rank in Netflix’s Most Popular charts.

This Will Become The Next Marbles Game, & I’m Not Ready!

The new game indicates that this could be the deadliest one yet, perhaps in competition with the marbles game in season 1. Many viewers recall that game being one of the most anxiety-inducing, as it led to the deaths of several key players, including Ali. Now, the trailer is hinting that there will be one equivalent to that game, with many fan-favorite Squid Game characters at risk. It even appears that both the red and blue teams will have to fight each other and survive until the timer runs out. What sucks is that this is simply a teaser, so the worst has yet to come.

The trailer primarily focuses on this new round. There are only a few quick snippets of other characters, like No-eul, Jun-ho, and the Front Man, but with limited detail. However, it’s simply a teaser and a full trailer is expected before the season 3 release. That full trailer could likely come when Netflix hosts their Fan Event on May 31, less than a month before its premiere. If so, hopefully, the new trailer can provide more insight into the final games and what the showdown will look like between Gi-hun and the Front Man.

Squid Game season 3 will return for the final episodes on June 27 on Netflix.
