The Series’ Gets a Physical Release

It’s been a few years since Pokémon Journeys: The Series first aired. This season of Pokémon was the start of Ash’s final journey to becoming a Pokémon master, as he traveled to the Galar region with Goh. Now, fans can revisit the anime’s 23rd Season as VIZ Media reveals the physical copy of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.

For a listed price of $59.99, Pokémon Journeys: The Series – The Complete Season will feature all 48 episodes before the events of Pokémon Master Journeys take place. According to the VIZ Media website, the DVD will be available for purchase on Amazon and Target and will be released on July 22, 2025. The cover art for this physical release features Ash and Goh, along with their partner Pokémon, Pikachu and Scorbunny, as they begin their new journey in the Pokémon world.

Pokémon Journeys is a Pokémon anime based on the Pokémon Sword and Shield games for the Nintendo Switch. It aired for over a year, from November 2019 to December 2020, and was well-received by fans. It generated an audience score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.55 on MyAnimeList. This is the first of three seasons that featured Ash’s final journey to become a Pokémon Master, and the next two seasons that followed were Masters Journeys and Ultimate Journeys.

Ash’s Journey in Pokémon Before ‘Pokémon Journeys’

Before the events of Pokémon Journeys, Ash had already traveled to seven regions, where he made many new friends, reunited with familiar faces, and earned more gym badges in hopes of becoming a Pokémon Master. Not to mention facing Team Rocket multiple times as they try to steal Pikachu and any other Pokémon “for the boss.”

The previous season was the Sun and Moon series, which took place in three installments. Ash traveled to the Alola Region in this series, just like in the Pokémon Sun and Moon video games. But unlike the other seasons, Ash attends a Pokémon school with five classmates while exploring the region, unlike before where he and his companions travel from town to town. The Sun and Moon Era ends with Ash competing in the Alola Pokémon League (aka the Manalo Conference), where he faces his friends and rivals and competes in the exhibition match against the Masked Royal before returning home to Pallet Town as Alola’s Champion.
