While the predominant colors in fall collections often lean toward shades of brown, olive, burgundy, russet reds, and various gourd oranges, I’m seeing a lot of really good blues this season, with something for every seasonal palette.
Blue can be a versatile color that’s easy to wear year-round. It combines well with navy, and most other neutrals. Choosing the best blues for your palette will insure that they coordinate seamlessly with the rest of your wardrobe. And make you look your best! So I’ve included seasonal color palette recommendations for each.
Since we’re heading into sweater and jacket season, I’m featuring those styles, but you’ll also find many of these colors in tees, blouses, pants.
Wear-now-wear-later blues
Talbot’s Knit Sweater Jacket – $129
I’ll start off with something for you Winters, since I know you often have a hard time finding your colors this time of year.
This good looking and wool-free sweater jacket is available in Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes.
J.Crew Classic Cashmere Crewneck – $128
This color is called Blue Martini, and will really brighten up your cool weather outfits! Another good blue for many of you Winters, it’s available in sizes XX-Small to 3X.
(This is just one of over a dozen lovely colors offered in this style…there’s something for everyone.)
Caslon Puff Sleeve Cotton Blend Sweater – $69.50
Summers, I often hear you mention a lack of color options this time of year, but with various shades of lilac and light blue on trend, you’ll have more choices this season. I call this color “Periwinkle.” What would you call it? Sizes XX-Small to XX-Large.
Talbot’s Merino Wool Polo Sweater – $99.50
There are a few teal and light teal colors that can be worn by multiple seasons. In the Summer palette, this would be called “Duck Egg,” but it’s also close enough to Spring’s “Aqua” that many of us can wear it as well.
In Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes. (I love that it’s 100% merino wool, a great choice for travel!)
Eileen Fisher Ponte Knit Blazer – $278
And this “Deep Adriatic” color is your Autumn “Marine Navy!” This (washable) blazer could be a good travel piece, and is available in sizes XXS to 3X and Petites.
There are several pieces in this color in the current EF collection, so if you’ve been searching for your navy, do take a look!
Talbot’s Kate Cardigan – $129
Another one in Autumn “Kingfisher.” This cute textured cardigan is available in Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes.
In fall and winter, bright blues like these can really lift darker outfits, as well as your mood. Which color blue is your favorite to wear?
