WrestleMania 41 week is officially here. As WWE prepares for another unforgettable spectacle on The Grandest Stage of Them All, it feels like something is missing. For the past four WrestleManias, The Bloodline has been the main attraction and the most talked-about storyline of the show. Beginning with WrestleMania 37, Roman Reigns embarked on his journey as the WWE Universal Champion. Little did we know this would end up being a 1,316-day title reign. From that moment on, The Bloodline became the biggest draw in professional wrestling.
However, ever since the story of the New Bloodline led by Solo Sikoa seemingly reached its peak, and Roman regained his Ula Fala and the status of Tribal Chief, both versions of The Bloodline have lost relevance. There’s not enough talk about the current status of The Bloodline, and how WWE quietly ended its most successful story right under our eyes with no explanation.

Going into WrestleMania 41, the only Bloodline connection is a midcard title match for the United States Championship between LA Knight and Jacob Fatu. It’s already odd enough that, for the first time since their emergence, Roman Reigns isn’t involved in any way, shape, or form with The Bloodline. Instead, the original leader of the top faction over the past decade in professional wrestling has a triple threat match against CM Punk and Seth Rollins.

Every superstar that was in The Bloodline has gone on to venture into a new feud. The Usos are both entering a new era in their career as solo stars. Looking back, the WarGames match at Survivor Series a few months ago seems like the beginning of the end of The Bloodline as we once knew it. The moment that nobody is addressing that marked the end of both Bloodlines was the Tribal Combat match at the Raw Debut on Netflix.

The Bloodline Story Has Lost Its Relevance
Essentially, Reigns moved on from The Bloodline once he defeated Solo Sikoa for the Ula Fala back in January. Of course, with its meaning of “high status and power,” it also symbolized that both Bloodline factions were no more. Since the match was Tribal Combat, there were no disqualifications, which made room for all sorts of shenanigans and interference. Even with the help of Tama Tonga, Fatu, and Kevin Owens, Sikoa wasn’t able to get it done and was defeated by the OTC.

After several months of running Smackdown, it felt like an abrupt end to Sikoa’s reign as the Tribal Chief. Although it took a ton of distractions and outside interference, Reigns was able to take his rightful spot back on the throne. Once the match was over, we received the tease that The Rock would turn on Reigns, but we were left disappointed once again.
The moment that everyone seemed to forget was what happened after the match. The thrilling moment between The Rock and Reigns solidified the end of The Bloodline. Once The Rock puts the Ula Fala back around the next of Reigns, they stare at each other and embrace one another with respect as if it was the torch being passed to Reigns. Not as the Tribal Chief or the leader of a faction, but as a solo star. Whatever the plan was at the moment, the result is clear now: The Bloodline story has lost its relevance as the main driving force behind WWE storytelling.

The Emergence of Some of the Members Caused WWE to End The Bloodline
Although it was more abrupt than WWE probably would’ve liked, the decision to end The Bloodline is likely because of the emergence of some of the members of the OG Bloodline and New Bloodline as solo stars. The first is Jey Uso, who won the Royal Rumble and is going on to WrestleMania 41 for a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship. He has organically become one of the top babyfaces in the company over the past year.

In addition to Uso, Jacob Fatu has also quickly become one of the top rising stars in WWE. As a heel, he continues to get cheers from the crowd at live events. With his unique promos and freakish athleticism for his size, it is no secret why he has an opportunity to get his first taste of championship gold in WWE. It hasn’t even been a full year since he debuted in WWE, yet 10 months later, he’s got a match at WrestleMania for a midcard title. Sometimes, organic growth trumps anything else, and this may be one of those cases.

The Build For WrestleMania 41 Proves Why WWE Needs The Bloodline
The two most polarizing figures in the Bloodline storyline for the past couple of years have been Reigns and The Rock. Both have seemingly turned the page from the family business. The Rock seems more focused on creating a new faction that strives to take over the company, which is expected to be led by John Cena. Meanwhile, Reigns is hanging on to his Wiseman for dear life, in an effort to avoid losing him to either Rollins or Punk.
A common topic of discussion for this week has been the lackluster build for WrestleMania 41. One reason why people may feel that way is because fans are used to the heights of the Bloodline story and its long-term payoff. Once WWE decided to go a different route with the group’s biggest stars, it left the new Bloodline with a ton of pressure to live up to the expectations the OG Bloodline set. There may still be a feud in the future between Fatu and Sikoa, but that may only be a one-and-done feud.
What is left now is to await the debut of Hikuleo, who is rumored to be the next member of the faction, and perhaps even Zilla Fatu. These new members may revitalize Solo’s faction, if WWE decides to truly give him the ball as the company’s top heel. Despite of the current lull, or perhaps even the outright cancellation of this story, The Bloodline can always come back to be a major driving force behind WWE storytelling. As the build-up to WrestleMania 41 proved, WWE needs a story capable of capturing fans’ attention once again.
