While an Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus relationship might not have been on a lot of fans’ 2025 bingo cards, a source tells People that the seemingly unlikely couple is just what each other needs at this point in their lives. Cyrus—who filed for divorce from his ex-wife Firerose in May 2024 after seven months of marriage—is reportedly enjoying moving on with the “amazing” Bedazzled actress, who’s been a source of positivity amid his most recent split.
The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer was reportedly struggling before getting romantically involved with Hurley, as the source explained, “The divorce and drama put him down. It was depressing.” The insider added that the musician is ready for this next chapter. “Liz is perfect for him to move on,” the source shared. “And she won’t put up with any nonsense.”

Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly on Monday that while Cyrus and Hurley’s relationship is “very recent,” it’s “going well” and started as a platonic friendship. “They have been friends for years but it turned romantic recently,” the insider revealed. “It’s not completely random as they worked together years ago and always kept in touch.”

The source also said that the “very happy” couple “bonded over life experiences,” adding, “They really understand each other and Liz is a very compassionate person, which Billy Ray adores … They have just been enjoying life together and wanted to make it public. They have nothing to hide.”

Cyrus was also previously married to ex-wife Tish Cyrus, with whom he shares kids Trace Cyrus, 36; Brandi Cyrus, 37; Miley Cyrus, 32; Braison Cyrus, 30; and Noah Cyrus, 25. He also has another son, Christopher Cody Cyrus, with ex Kristin Luckey. Meanwhile, Hurley was previously married to businessman Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2011,
None of Cyrus’s kids have publicly spoken out about his rumored new relationship with the Austin Powers actress, which the new couple seemingly confirmed with a joint April 20 Instagram post of him kissing Hurley on the cheek. However, Hurley’s son Damian—whom she shares with her late ex Steve Bing—shared a message of support by commenting with several heart emojis.
