Consider the humble loafer. It’s a classic footwear style that’s comfortable, yet can add polish to casual outfits. And loafers can be the perfect shoe choice for transitional seasons; just add socks when it gets cooler. I’m a big fan of loafers and already have my eye on a couple of pairs to add to my fall wardrobe. Today I’m featuring some women’s loafers with textural details that take them up a notch from the same-old-same-old.
Ok, so I may have already added these…😉 (You can see another way I’ve styled them here.) They’re very soft and comfortable right out of the box! They run true-to-size, but if you have a wide foot, you may want to size up by 1/2.
Women’s loafers for fall with a stylish edge
Textural details will feature prominently in this fall’s selections of shoes and accessories. I love this, as it’s a way to add freshness and subtle interest to a style that’s classic and familiar. In addition to metallics, I’m seeing lots of suede, croc, ruching and stitching details that take a simple look up a notch.
Vince Naomi – $350
These are quite good-looking, sleek, and VERY comfortable, with a nicely padded insole and moderate arch support.
This pair in brown is on my short list. (They’re also available in a tempting cream color.) As with most Vince shoes, I suggest going down 1/2 size from your usual.
Vionic Cheryl II – $134.95
You’ll have to trust me on this, but these are much cuter and more subtle in person than in the online images. They also have Vionic’s signature arch support insole (removable) and are available in Medium & Wide widths.
If metallics or reptile prints aren’t your thing, there are several other finishes available. (Autumns, check out the Dark Khaki/olive green!)
Sam Edelman Lucca – $150
This very well-reviewed style comes in a bunch of colors and finishes, but I think this burgundy croc is really fun. On-trend for fall, but not “trendy” …
Vaneli Simply Bit -$174.95
Many of you have requested more options available in Narrow widths, so I was happy to spot some cute ones. This loafer with bit hardware (also in black) is available in both Medium and Narrow widths.
Tory Burch Classic Loafer – $298
Instead of black, why not try a deep, spruce green? (Great for Winters & Blue Autumns!) A friend of mine swears by this style for comfort.
Sam Edelman Loraine – $170
This style really “punches above its weight” and is available in over a dozen finishes. But how gorgeous is this Cabernet patent??
I’ve found this style runs 1/2 size large, but if you have a wider foot, you may want to take your usual size.
Ultra-thin lambskin insoles – $15.95/pr
To wear your loafers in sockless comfort, I highly recommend these very thin and lightweight insoles! They were originally recommended by my cobbler, and I use them in any shoes that have smooth synthetic or non-absorbent insoles. Order by your usual shoe size.
Loafers are a style perennial with classic appeal. This fall, look for interesting finishes and textural details that will add some zing to your casual outfits. Let me know which styles and details you like best!
