How do you cast a four-part film series about a band filled with four of the biggest heartthrobs the world has ever known? Apparently, you simply pick and choose from the It-boys of the moment. There really is no other way to put it: the casting announcement for the upcoming Beatles biopic series looks an awful lot like a convention of Internet Boyfriends.

It’s official—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison will be played by Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoughan, and Joseph Quinn, respectively. In other words, whomever your chosen internet boyfriend may be, he’s almost certainly about to play a Beatle.

There’s Dickinson, who most recently starred as verging-on-seedy intern who enters into a sub-dom affair with Nicole Kidman’s high-powered, silk-clad CEO character in Babygirl. (We will never look at a glass of milk the same again.) Then there’s Mescal, who became everyone’s internet boyfriend during COVID with his role in Normal People, before he solidified his heartthrob status with roles in All of Us Strangers, Aftersun, and Gladiator II. Next up is Barry Keoughan, an unlikely internet boyfriend who frequently appears in articles about the Rat Boy trend after he won hearts for a soulful turn in The Banshees of Inisherin and for his (now over) high-profile romance with Sabrina Carpenter. And finally, there’s Joseph Quinn—though he might be viewed as an underdog in this line-up of Internet Boyfriends, his charismatic performance as the ill-fated Eddie in the last season of Stranger Things will probably go down in pop culture history.

Mescal and Keoughan were already rumored to be in the cast, but the Fab Four were officially announced during a Sony Pictures presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas yesterday March 31. “We’re not just making one film about the Beatles—we’re making four,” director Sam Mendes said at the event. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.” The films are set to land in cinemas in April 2028.

One thing seems pretty clear—if one of these It boys isn’t already your secret internet boyfriend, he probably will be soon.
